It was great to see so many students and families turn out in support of Mr. DeMar last Saturday. Not only was he a colleague of mine, but he was one of my teachers- doing student teaching while I was a student at Castillero and as a private instructor for a short time. I was proud to be able to perform with so many other alumni and raise money for Joe. I also got to meet current and former Pioneer students that evening. Good job to all who performed! Be sure that you check out their website.
I have created a Pioneer Band & Orchestra group on facebook. If you would like to connect, be sure to join the group! Also, please invite friends, family and other alumni to join so that they can also know what is going on. We have a busy summer as we plan events to raise funds for our new orchestra as well as other activities in room 107.
Remember to follow this blog and be in the know about what's going on here at Pioneer. I will be asking for help off and on here at Pioneer this summer and I would appreciate all the help I can get. Have a great summer and keep practicing!

Summer!
Hooray! Hooray! We're on our way! Our summer vacation starts today! (thanks, Berenstain Bears) OK, so it's only 10 weeks plus a 3 day weekend, but why would I put a damper on your excitement? While many students will try to spend as little time as possible thinking about the 2010-2011 school year, I will be working to equip a new orchestra and plan a school year for a great band program (no small task). I'll spend some time working for the family business, and plan to have at least a few adventures with Hannah and Melissa.
I have designed this blog to serve as a bridge for Pioneer Band & Orchestra students, families and others with an interest in following what's going in the Pioneer Instrumental Music department. This summer we'll have activities to raise the funds needed to outfit our new orchestra, so I'll let you know about that and I'd love to meet you there. Also, throughout the school year I will keep current class activities, performances, assignments and all the information you will need as a student, parent or fan of the Pioneer Band & Orchestra. You can also join our "Pioneer Band & Orchestra" group on Facebook to interact with other students, families, alumni and the Pioneer community.
