Live performance is the lifeblood of the musician. One goal I have for the students is that they will become lifelong consumers of live music. To guide students in this journey, I require one live performance review for each semester. It is a form with simple questions to prompt the students to evaluate the performance both musically and aesthetically. This assignment, in conjunction with our weekly listening assignment strengthens the student's ability to evaluate musical performances. This is in line with the state standards on music [aesthetic valuing 4.0] which state-
"Students critically assess and derive meaning from works of music and the performance of musicians in a cultural context according to the elements of music, aesthetic qualities, and human responses"Students should arrive early to any performance and must not leave until the entire program is over. It is rude to arrive late or to leave early. When you attend events, you represent Pioneer High School, please do so with pride.
The Live Review Form is due within one week of the program you attend- not later than December 14 (fall) or May 17 (spring)
